Microwave rice cooker and pasta cooker includes a pasta draining insert, steaming insert, pasta measurer, measuring cups, measuring spoons, rice paddle and a locking lid, 12 cup capacity.

This particular versatile multi-cooker from Progressive is excellent for making rice, pasta, and vegetables. The specially made lid helps steam circulating, while clamps on the bottom hold it firmly in place. As a result, rice comes out fluffy and does not stick to the bottom of the pot. This looks exactly like the rice cooker I bought last week at Target for $5.00, accessories and all, so I think it’s a bit overpriced through Amazon unless it’s somehow different.

At any rate mine lasted about a week before DH managed to knock one of the handles off — crappy plastic combined with impatient man rendered it mostly useless. I’ve had quite a few microwave rice cookers before, and still have the original one my mom gave me more than 10 years ago, stains and all. The one I bought to “replace” that one got broken within a couple of years, the next one lasted about a year, and this one took about a week. Make sure to view the product in person to determine if it it will withstand the “Steve test” before wasting any more money.

I purshased this product to replace a microwave rice cooker by the same company but a smaller version. The smaller one worked extremely well and since i was sure of their reliability i decided to buy the bigger version. I was disappointed – it is made of cheap plastic and the design is flawed . The cooking water overflows and everytime i cook rice i have to clean out the turntable- at least half a cup of water overflows. Good for steaming veggies but not for rice or pasta.

This is my second purchase of this product. I bought one over a year ago and it is absolutely wonderful. It makes perfect rice every time and is easy to use and keep clean. I bought the second one for my daughter who is in college and moving into an apartment.

Pros:

Does not leak water as it is cooking the rice from what I found.

Cons:

Only used once so far. It cooked the rice on the bottom of the basket but non of the rice above that so i ended up having to throw the rice away. The shelf that is supposed to be used for steaming vegetables warped slightly.

Not sure if I’m doing it right yet. Need to try one or two more times to see if I can get the rice to cook throughout.
